HPV Self-Sampling Study: An exploration into the perspectives of Muslim women across East London

Cervical screening attendance in East London is really low, and that includes women from Muslim backgrounds. Attendance data shows that only 52% of women in Tower Hamlets, 60% of women in Newham, and 61% of women in Redbridge attend cervical screening.
We know that Muslim women face barriers that stop them from going. And there is a new way to access cervical screening that can help us overcome these barriers. It’s called HVP self-sampling.
The NHS is now offering HPV self-sampling to women who are overdue for their test, but it may become an option for all women in the future.
